Guided horse treks

Pankisi Valley is well known in Georgia for its strong horses and experienced guides, who know the remote highland landscapes and routes intimately. Horse treks can be organized for short or longer durations, and are suitable for novice and experienced riders.

The most accessible local routes go to Tbatana mountain via the Batsara Ravine, and Nakerala mountain, replete with forests, streams and alpine pastures. Long expeditions to Tusheti from Pankisi Valley are very popular with tourists.

Local mountain summits provide magnificent panoramic views of Khevsureti to the west and Tusheti in the north, where you may also meet shepherds who live with their sheep and cows on the alpine pastures from May to September. It is possible to see them making cheese from sheep milk using traditional methods.

Pankisi Adventure Treks is the only established and reputable service in Pankisi Valley, specializing in local horse treks and multiday expeditions to Tusheti.
